How to Play

Route 777 is the mythical highway that runs across America, from New York to the Golden Gate in San Francisco. Your adventure starts on a desert highway next to a gas tank. It’s easy imagining surfing away on a Harley towards the glistening sunset in this game.

The interface is a little unorthodox, but it’s not complicated. Each spin is worth 100 coins – what you really adjust in your bet level is your coin value. Click on the stack of coins icon on the bottom left corner of the screen, and then choose the amount you’re ready to play per bet – this pulls up the Total Bet screen. It starts at £0.20 per spin and goes all the way up to £100 for the daring.

After you select your bet size, things can get interesting. From the Bet Size screen, click on the side arrows to arrive at some game strategies. Elk Gaming has added 4 betting strategies are popular with gamblers that you can choose as a preset – Optimizer, Leveller, Booster, and Jumper. These automatically adjust your bet level after a win or a loss, depending on your playing style.

For example, Leveller raises your bet level by 2 steps after 5 consecutive losses – it’s based on some gamblers’ take that after several losses, you are more likely too win, and so it’s worth upping your bet to prepare yourself for the win. The presets are all colour coded – Leveller is green, and when it’s selected, it will change the colour of the bet indicator in the bottom right corner to green as well. Of course, if you like to take things slow, you don’t have to select any of the presets. After that, hit the spin button (the circle with an arrow in the bottom right), and it will bring you right into the game.

The Auto button in the top right will let you adjust auto-play settings. And because this game is so wickedly cool and time can pass in a blink, you can also set a time alert just to remind you to have a reality check at 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours – this is available through the settings menu from the top left corner.

Special Features and Bonuses

While it looks like a fancy version of a classic slot, Route 777 is packed with some fantastic bonus features.

Overtake Respins

If your first 2 reels (counting from left to right) are identical – you’ll trigger 5 free spins. During these spins, the 2 reels will both just move 1 step down, while the 3 reel spins normally. There’s a lot of potential to getting several decent wins during the Overtake feature.

Bonus Game

3 Skulls will trigger the bonus game which has 5 free spins. If you spin 2 Skulls during the bonus game, you’ll be randomly awarded anywhere from 5 to 15 free spins. 3 Skulls will trigger the Fortune Wheel.

Route 777 Fortune Wheel

This is the bonus within a bonus, and it’s where you can pick up some big wins. The wheel will keep spinning until you collect 3 of the same 7s, or until the Stop sign is hit. Any of the 777s will pay handsomely – the tricolour, crowned 777s are worth the most at 100,000 coins. The white 777s pay 50,000 coins. The double and single 7s will not nearly be as lucrative, so keep your fingers crossed.

Graphics and Sounds

Elk Gaming deserves a prize for giving a classic slot so much funk. It’s got a bad boy Harley Davidson feel, but it’s also futuristic with its dazzling and fiery dot matrix. All this against the warm backdrop of a desert road with just the sun and cactus – it’s a pleasure on the eyes.  The visuals are complimented by the sounds of an electric pinball machine, occasional police sirens, and growls every time the Skull comes up. When you get into the special features, a ripping guitar track will get you pumping!

Route 777 is a fantastic take on the classic fruit machine. It still has the simple 3 reel, 3 row layout, and the traditional symbols, but this slot has 17 paylines with several bonus features. The theme feels distinctively modern with the video screen taking you through your Harley road trip, and the soundtrack gets the adrenaline running without being intrusive. We also like the preset betting strategies – pro gamblers often use these setups manually, but less experienced players aren’t always familiar with how it works, or aren’t good at keeping track. RTP is at 96.3% so this eye-candy can potentially also be quite rewarding.
