Shoot! is a 5 reel 50 payline video slot from Microgaming. It’s going to feel a bit old school – the theme is based on the days when young fellows would trade football cards with Maradona and Pele as their prized possessions. It can feel a bit slow at times – it does take a while before you hit the bonus features, but on the bright side, Shoot! has an RTP of 96.54%, so you’ll be collecting a series of smaller wins on the way to the bigger jackpot.
The game starts by setting your coin value, which goes from $0.01 to $0.10. Then select the number of lines you want to bet on – which goes from 1 to 50. Usually we recommend going for the maximum number of paylines you can afford, even if this means going down on your coin size a bit, because you’ll see wins and bonus games faster. Then with the Coins button, adjust the number of coins per line. Wins are multiplied by coins per line, so it’s also worth putting down more coins per line. After that, you’re ready to spin!
Bet Max will change the setting to the highest number of lines (50), and to the highest number of coins (20) without adjusting the coin size. To put on Autoplay, click on “Expert” which is just underneath the Spin button.
Special symbols are:
Scatter: “Bonus” written on 2 football cards
Wild: A collage of faces forming a football; icon that says “Wild”.
Symbols from highest to lowest value:
The fixed jackpot is 500 coins multiplied by your bet and can be won by spinning 5 Scatters (the Bonus Card). This doesn’t sound like much, but remember this just the base jackpot – 5 Scatters will also trigger the much more lucrative Trade’em Bonus game and you can walk away with up to 61,900 coins.
It took us more than a few spins to get there, but Shoot! does have a pretty decent bonus game, that includes picking prizes and free spins:
If you get 3 or more Scatters (the Bonus cards) anywhere on the reels, you’ll enter a different screen where you will find 12 cards and you will uncover 4 to claim the hidden prizes. Within this bonus games, there’s a second level bonus if you uncover the Free Spins or Magazine Bonus. When you trigger either one of these bonuses, you will go straight into them, and then return to Trade’em once you’re finished. All bonuses can be re-triggered.
You’ll enter another screen and will have between 10 to 35 free spins to claim some extra coins.
There are 12 magazines on the floor. Start picking them to uncover prizes. Be careful though, there are 2 red cards hidden there and getting a red card will end the bonus game.
Shoot! will no doubt feel a bit dated. But it does have a nostalgic charm harking to back to the 80s when scruffy young lads would trade Maradona and Pele football cards in the basement – and the Steak Pie symbol is a humorous addition. In the background, you’ll have football fans cheering and a cheesy television sound track. When that gets too much, feel free to visit the mute button in the top right corner of the screen.
It’s not a particularly fancy game, but Shoot! will appeal to those who grew up in the 80s watching their favourite footballers on telly, and trading football cards with their mates in the basement. As a video slot, the RTP is at 96.54% so you will be seeing relatively frequent wins, but it does take a little more patience before you reach the much more profitable prize picking bonus games.
